My Resume Didn't Parse Correctly

If your module library looks wrong after uploading — missing jobs, jumbled text, or modules that don't make sense — here's what to do.

Common parsing issues

Missing work history Some roles didn't come through as jobs in your library. This usually happens with unusual date formats, overlapping positions, or consulting/freelance roles that don't follow a standard format.

Truncated or combined modules A single long bullet point got cut off, or two separate accomplishments were merged into one module.

Garbled text Some words or phrases look wrong — this can happen with stylized fonts, columns, or graphics in the original resume PDF.

Missing skills Skills that were buried in a job description rather than a dedicated skills section sometimes don't get extracted.

What to do

For minor issues: Edit directly in the library. Click any module to rewrite it, use "Add Module" to fill in missing accomplishments, and update job details by clicking the job title.

For major parsing failures: Try re-uploading with a different file. If your current resume is a designed PDF (columns, icons, graphics), export a plain text version and upload that instead. Text-based PDFs parse significantly better.

For formatting-specific issues: If your resume was created in Canva, a graphic design template, or similar tools, the underlying text may not be machine-readable. Copy the content into a plain Word document, save as PDF, and re-upload.

Re-uploading

You can re-upload a resume from your Library settings. Your existing modules are preserved — the new upload adds to your library rather than replacing it. After re-uploading, review for duplicates and remove anything that got doubled up.
